This Forsaken Earth: The Sea Beggars, Book 2 by Paul Kearney
Bantam, Transworld (mm, 416 pages)
Publication date (forthcoming): 4 July 2007, UK
So far, a highly engaging fantasy adventure series. This volume is much stronger during the action at sea and in the pirate city; the foray of Cortishane and company inland to become involved in the war and the subsequent flight of the refugees across the mountains lacked a little substance. However, we leave off back at sea with plenty of good story yet to be told. I'm keen to see how this series plays out. -nw
