This is the place to ask about that story you remember so well -- but can't remember the title and author.

I am searching for the title of a book about some plague or virus slowly eliminating the human race while there is a "spirit" world above (beside...anyway, linked to it), where deads remain for a while, as long as they are remembered by at least someone on Earth (they don't completely disappear until they disappear from the souvenirs of everyone on Earth). The last surviver is a woman working up at the North Pole.... can't say more. Does it ring a bell?

Thanks in advance.

I read a review of this book - either on this site or on scifi.com.
I read it a few weeks ago - sorry I can't remember the name.

Sound like the description of "The Brief History of the Dead" by Kevin Brockmeier.

Haven't read it myself but it looks interesting.

Google it or check it out for yourself on Amazon. Good hunting..
