I got rid of my entire SciFi/Fanasty book collection in Dec 1985.
Dumb mistake. I had the best of the best.
I am now trying to find those old authors I used to read.
Thanks to this site I have rediscovered Andre Norton and Ursula K leguin.
The books I am having trouble with were always about Jungle Worlds.
I read most of these between 80-85.
1) Man discovers he had a past life on a jungle world. This book turned out to be Judgement on Janus by Andre Norton.
2) Inhabitant of alien world completely covered in trees that are miles and miles high. The main character has never seen the sun. Someone crashes into his world and he goes on a quest upwards until he sees the sun for the first time and birds. He has to venture down to the roots passing many sublevels (all new worlds to him) until he reaches the roots and a giant lake. I remember glowing creatures attack him. This was one of the best books I have ever read. I read it in one night. I could not put it down.
3) An author with first, middle, and last name wrote several books about an alien world (jungle/forest like). The authors name eludes me. Something like 'green' or 'anders'. The people were very intertwined with nature. Nothing in the author list strikes a note.
4) World where all men have died off. Only women remain. Remains of last man found by scientists. He is cloned. He cannot make more men, only women. Women rediscover sex. Uhhh...it's gets dirtier from here so I won't go into the details. No, this is not an ADULT/PORN novel. It was good stuff.
Well, that is a start.
All help appreciated.
All references to other similar works appreciated also.
