Death!

Postby petehhhh » Thu Jul 27, 2006 6:12 pm

Hi, I read a trilogoy a long time ago that started with a man contiplating suicide. Just as he puts the gun to his head, death appears at the door to his grotty apartment to collect his soul. But...... the man swings and shoots the grim reaper dead. hE THEN HAS TO TAKE OVER THE ROLE OF DEATH. And so the story continues of his journey collecting souls , he meets the three sisters of fate, mother earth, old father time and so on. I seem to remember that it was a trilogy of five books. If anyone knows what it please let me know as I am going mad trying to remember............

ThAnkyou in advance

It sounds like the "Incarnations of Immortality" series by Piers Anthony.

no, it wouldn't be a trilogy of five books. "trilogy" means a series of three .

trilogy

Trilogy is quite accepted now as meaning three books or more in a series. As many Trilogys get added to but they are still referred to as a trilogy.

joke

The use of "trilogy" to denote more than three books is a joke, not a serious attempt to change the meaning of the word.

Ah yes, as in "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy: A Trilogy in Five Parts".

Sorry, didn't realise the original poster was joking.
