At least one storyline has SF elements: "Idiots Abroad" is a dystopian fantasy in which Phineas somehow becomes a mega-rich TV evangelist. I'm now the proud owner of the FFF Omnibus, signed (though not in my presence) by author Gilbert Shelton. Maybe you have to have encountered them at the right age?

I'm a big fan of the Freak Brothers. Have you seen Gilbert Sheldon's more recent book, "Not Yet Dead"?

Yes, that was a fun series. I did have some of the original comics but I fear I may have thrown them away during a misguided clear-out.
