2000 AD just for kids?

Or do you sensible grown up people on here read it too? Never even looked at it myself thinking comics are just for kids! And I'm well 42! Too old?

If by 2000 AD you mean the Brit comics paper, the Alan Moore stories are great.

For adults just getting started on comics, Girl Genius is a good place to begin. Or, if sexy drawings of girls offend you, try Watchman. Uncle Scrooge by Carl Barks is also great. And Fantagraphics is coming out with a new edition of Prince Valiant that is well worth buying.

Oh i don't know about those Rick,I was referring to Judge Dredd. I thought thats what 2000 AD was!

Judge Dredd began in the Brit weekly comics papers. He's probably the most successful of the British comic paper characters, with the possible exception of Dan Dare, the nostalgic favorite. In newspaper strips, Modesty Blaise is both the most famous and the best. Alan Moore never wrote Judge Dredd, I don't think, but wrote backup features.

I've been having a clearout and dug up a couple of issues of 2000AD from 1997. I was never a regular reader but I got these for the strip BLAIR 1 - for "Bio-Enhancement Link-Up Via Artificial Intelligence Relays", marking the accession of the first cyborg to hold the office of Prime Minister. His first mission was to free a mother and baby who were being held hostage by unseated Conservative MPs demanding their government back - he overpowered them by unleashing his deadly grin. Sadly I only have 2 of the 4 episodes.
