Thanks, Ted. (I feel like I should have something pithier or wittier to say than that, but, really, "thanks" about sums it up.)

Charles, the great reviews are greatly deserved. I loved the story. I expect I'll be reading it again in a couple of Year's Bests.

E, I've seen the reactions (my wife keeps gleefully pointing them out to me among other things) and it's what you hope you to do as a writer.

I love the F&SF covers too. I just got a message from a friend in Georgia who I haven't talked to in years. They were in the bookstore when the August cover caught their eye, and then they recognized my name. That's probably what covers ought to do.

As I just mentioned on the forum, "The Political Prisoner" has been getting rave reviews everywhere I frequent.

As for Maurizio Manzieri beautiful cover, I think that _The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction_ has the most beautiful covers of all of the genre magazines every month. I love them all...and yes, that one was a particularly vivid one.

Maurizio Manzieri did a great cover for "The Political Officer" when it was published six years ago, so it was a pleasant surprise to see his work juxtaposed against the new Max story as well.
