Squirrels, in Alaska, are referred to as "Big Macs". My sister, just back, told me they have nicknames for everything. Squirrels are Big Macs because they seem to be fast food for all the smaller predators. Now bears are plentiful so the nickname for bicyclists (obviously thinking from the perspective of a bear) is "Meals on Wheels."

Oh, those mutant black squirrels get their tentacles into everyrthing. They haven't made it to my area yet, at least not in numbers sufficient to notice. I know people in other towns, though, where the black squirrels have invaded. With the black squirrels around, these people I know don't seem to be able to grow a garden from seed. The squirrels dig up all the seeds and eat them. At least that's what I've been hearing. They have to sprout their corn and peas first.

Mutant black squirrels are invading Indiana--proof positive that Terence McKenna's singularity of infinite complexity approaches. No doubt enormous tentacles will figure into the final confusion.

Alas, when the trees have tentacles, squirrels don't do so well.

Flying cars? Are you nuts? It really won't be a good idea to be a flying duck with every jabdaga, and shepherd scanning the sky for supper.

Thank you for your kind words. But at this time, my optimism is anything but infectious. I do have high hopes that in a hundred years time, though, that tentacles will be infectious.

Well, in a hundred years, I predict that we'll all have tentacles. And we will be walking 10 miles a day through the crumbling ruins of a civilization turned wasteland in search of prey items.

Free tentacles for everyone! With that said, maybe not everyone will walk ten miles a day. Those with exceptionaly long and flexible tentacles may choose to turn their tentacles to snares and wait for the prey to come to them.

Now here's an article for you science fiction fans: predictions made a century ago about the world of today. Many things were gotten right: the rise of easy, long-distance telphony, easy transmission of images, and so on. Some things were wrong, of course, that we would eliminate mosquitos and flies, and that we would all walk 10 miles a day.
