The 1996 Eaton Conference included a panel discussion
featuring Greg Bear, Gregory Benford, and David Brin, the three science fiction
writers recruited to write continuations of Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.
This was transcribed, edited by me, and published as
"Building on
Isaac Asimov's Foundation: An Eaton Discussion with Joseph D. Miller as Moderator"
in the March, 1997 issue of Science-Fiction Studies.
Several years ago, as my contribution to a proposed
Best-of-Eaton volume, I wrote an article about my experiences at the Eaton
Conferences; after the project fell through, I eventually published the article
as "Science
Fiction and the Playing Fields of Eaton" in the Spring, 2006 issue of Extrapolation.
Finally, while not officially an Eaton Conference, the Hong
Kong 2003 Conference was co-sponsored by the University of California,
Riverside, and co-coordinated by me, and it proved to be such a singular
experience that I wrote an article about it for Locus Online, entitled
"Journey to
the Future: Hong Kong 2003."
