His feature film the Last American Hero with Jeff Bridges, Valerie Perrine, and Gary Busey was especially good. He directed several episodes of The Twilight Zone. My favorite is The Shelter. I was lucky to have worked as a second assistant director on three of his television projects, The Lincoln Miniseries, Crash Landing, and The Broken Chain. He was extremely kind to me and very good with all of the actors. I frequently marveled at his deft touch and experience whenever we ran into unexpected problems. He was one of the very best.
