Buzzy Multimedia, a publisher of audio book and specialty t-shirts, has announced plans to launch Buzzy Mag, an online zine of fiction by new and established sf authors. The magazine has announced a rate of 5 cents/word for stories up to 10,000 words. Buzzy Mag is also instituting a beta reading system which requires authors who submit to agree to read and critique at least two other submissions.

John Klima has announced that Electric Velocipede will cease to be distributed by Night Shade Press after the current issue, 21/22. Klima and Night Shade have determined that Night Shade’s book business can not support the distribution of a periodical. Night Shade will pay contributors to Electric Velocipede 23-25 and the contents of those issues will be placed on-line. If the magazine continues beyond that point, it will most likely be on-line only.

Macmillan Publishers, which includes Tor Books, has announced that they will pay royalties to authors based on estimated lost sales from the period when Amazon.com removed the “buy” button from Macmillan books during a period of negotiations over the pricing of e-books for the Kindle. The payment is called the “Amazon Kindle Outage Adjustment.” In addition, many authors will receive royalties based on 25% of net receipts, instead of 15% of list price, which will work out to the authors’ benefit.

All four contenders for this year’s Trans-Atlantic Fan Fund race to travel from Europe to North America, have participated in a podcast of interviews with Jim Mowatt. This year’s candidates include Graham Charnock, John Coxen, Liam Proven, and Paul Treadaway. TAFF voting is open until March 12, 2011.

E-book vendor Wizard’s Tower, which was set up as a general e-book vendor, has added its first additional publisher, Lethe Press. Set up earlier this year, Wizard’s Tower has so far sold their own works and e-zines Dark Spires and Salon Futura, but with the plan to offer books by various other publishers. With the addition of four books by Lethe Press, a small press specializing in books written by members of the LGBT community, Wizard’s Tower begins its product expansion. Clarkesworld Magazine is also available through Wizard’s Tower.

Infinity Plus has announced the launch of an e-book imprint, which will go live with six titles, a collection of stories by Eric Brown and a five-volume collection fiction of Keith Brooke. The books, with more to follow, will be available in Kindle format for £2.18 or $3.44. Future books are scheduled by Molly Brown, Garry Kilworth, Anna Tambour, and John Grant.

Greg and Astrid Bear and Karen Anderson have accused Project Gutenberg of posting stories written by Poul Anderson in violation of copyright. Project Gutenberg claims the stories, originally published in the 1940s and 1950s, are in public domain. The Bears and Anderson state that the copyrights are current and belong to their family. Karen Anderson is Poul Anderson’s widow, Astrid and Greg Bear are Anderson’s daughter and son-in-law.
