The Strathclyde Theatre Group with the Radio Theatre Group will present a reading of the Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy radio scripts from March 24 through April 2 at 7:30 pm. Ticket prices are Mon – Tues £7/4, Wed – Sat £10/7. The event will occur at the Ramshorn Theatre at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

Lovecraft in San Diego

The Annihilation Point in New York

The Annihilation Point, a science fiction play produced by The Berserker Residents, a Philadelphia-based theatre troupe, will be playing in New York at the Abron’s Art Center at 466 Grand Street in New York from January 7 through January 16. Tickets are $15.

Klingon Christmas Carol

The Commedia Beauregard will be performing A Klingon Christmas Carol from November 26-December 19 at the Greenhouse Theater Center at 2257 N. Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. This version of Charles Dickens’s novel A Christmas Carol is adapted to reflect the Klingon Code of the Warrior and has been translated into Klingon. Tickets are normally $32, but on November 29, bringing a canned food donation will allow a $10 discount and three canned food items will allow a free ticket.

Coraline in San Francisco

The SF Playhouse in San Francisco will be hosting the West Coast debut of the new musical Coraline, based on Neil Gaiman’s novel. The musical features a book by Gaiman and music by Stephin Merritt. It will be directed by Bill English and is scheduled to run from November 16-January 15.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep Premieres

The Untitled Theatre Company will present an all new stage adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep at the 3LD Art and Technology Center in New York from November 18 through December 11. The play is adapted and directed by Edward Einhorn and will run Thursdays through Sundays.

Klingon Opera Debut

U, the first opera to be written in Klingon, is scheduled to debut in The Hague, The Netherlands for a three night run on September 10 at the Zeebelt Theatre. The opera will play in Frankfurt later this month. U was written by Floris Schoenfeld and Marc Okrand and tells the story of Kahless the Unforgettable, the first Klingon emperor.

Shex’pir In DC

The Washington Shakespeare Company will be performing excerpts from the Shex’pir plays Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing in the original Klingon. Actors will be speaking lines in both Klingon and English for the company’s annual benefit on September 25 at the Rosslyn Spectrum in Arlington, Virginia. George Takei is scheduled to make a guest appearance at the event. Tickets begin at $150.

Dhalgren in NY

An play based on Samuel Delany’s Dhalgren, entitled Bellona, Destroyer of Cities is scheduled to debut at the Kitchen in New York on Delany’s birthday, April 1. The play has been adapted for the stage by Jay Scheib, who is also directing. Scheib has previously adapted the novel into a German play. The play is scheduled to run through April 3.

SF Theatre in Chicago

This year will see multiple science fiction and fantasy plays in Chicago. Currently, a stage adaptation of Cory Doctorow’s Hugo-nominated novel Little Brother is being performed at the Athenaeum Theatre. The production opened on June 14 (during Duckon) and will run through July 19.

Late this year, a musical, “The Addams Family,” will open in Chicago on November 13 (during Windycon) and will run through January 10, 2010. Starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth, the musical will be staged at the Ford Center/Oriental Theatre.
