Liu at MIT

Ken Liu will speak at MIT Reads, which has selected his collection The Paper Menagerie as their spring selection. Liu’s talk will take place on April 12 at 7:00 and will include a reading, a discussion of the stories “The Paper Menagerie” and “The Bookmaking Habits of Select Species,” a Q & A period, and an autograph session. The event is free, but registration is required.

Liu Speaks in Washington

Ken Liu will speak at the Library of Congress Pickford Theatre on April 8 from Noon to 1:00 on “Chinese Science Fiction: Conformance, Estrangement, and Translation.” Liu has won the Hugo and Nebula Awards and was also the translator for the Hugo Award-winning novel The Three-Body Problem, by Cixin Liu.

Sidewise Award Winners

The Sidewise Awards for Alternate History winners have been announced ahead of Sasquan. Due to the inability of any of the judges to attend Sasquan, the decision was made to cancel the presentation at the convention and announce the winners prior to the con.

WSFA Small Press Award

The winner of this year’s WSFA Small Press Award, presented at Capclave to original short fiction published by a small press, is “Good Hunting,” by Ken Liu. The story was published in Strange Horizons and edited by Brit Mandelo, An Owomoyela, and Julia Rios.
