Horton Named Reprint Editor

Rich Horton, who reviews short fiction for Locus and has edited several Best of Year anthologies has been named reprint editor for Lightspeed magazine. Horton will assume the position in January 2013. Lightspeed is edited by John Joseph Adams and is a merger of Adams’s Lightspeed and Fantasy magazines.

Adams Merges Lightspeed and Fantasy

John Joseph Adams, who recently became the publisher of Lightspeed and Fantasy in addition to their editor has announced the two magazines will merge. The combined magazine will double the fiction content, including four science fiction and four fantasy in each issue, although the amount of non-fiction content will be decreased. The price of the magazine will be increasing by about $1 per issue.

Adams Buys Magazines

John Joseph Adams, the editor of Lightspeed and Fantasy magazines, has purchased both titles from Sean Wallace at Prime Books. Fantasy debuted in 2005 and Adams became editor in 2011. He was the founding editor of Lightspeed in 2010. Adams will officially become publisher of both magazines in January, 2012.

Fantasy Magazine Relaunch

Fantasy Magazine will relaunch in March 2011 with a new look, new approach, and John Joseph Adams replacing Sean Wallace and Cat Rambo as editor. Wallace will remain the magazine’s publisher and Adams intends to bring the magazine in line with Lightspeed, also published by Prime. Fiction selections made by Wallace and Rambo will run through the February 2011 issue.
