Landis Receives Heinlein

Scientist and science fiction author Geoffrey A. Landis will receive the 2014 Robert A. Heinlein Award. The award recognizes outstanding works in science fiction and technical writings that inspire the human exploration of space. In addition to publishing numerous short stories and novels, Landis works for NASA and has been involved with the Martian rover project. The award will be presented on May 23, 2014 at opening ceremonies during Balticon 48.

Heinlein Award Winners

Allen Steele and Yoji Kondo have been announced as the recipients of 2013 Robert A Heinlein Award. The Heinlein Award is given to writers of science fiction and technical writers whose work inspires the exploration of space. The recipients are selected by a panel from the Heinlein Society and the award will be presented by the Baltimore Science Fiction Society at Balticon 47 on May 24. The winners will receive a plaque, a sterling silver medallion engraved with Heinlein’s likeness, and two lapel pins.

Stanley Schmidt, editor of Analog has been named the winner of the 2012 Robert A. Heinlein Award. The Heinlein Award was established to recognize outstanding published works in science fiction and technical writings that inspire the human exploration of space. The award will be presented on Friday, May 25, 2012 at opening ceremonies during Balticon 46.

Connie Willis has won the 2011 Robert A. Heinlein Award, presented for outstanding published works in science fiction and technical writings to inspire the human exploration of space. The award is given out by a committee headed by Dr. Yoji Kondo with the logistical support of the Baltimore Science Fiction Society.
