Fred Saberhagen Fred Saberhagen
Fred Saberhagen is the author of many popular series. He has written many fine fantasy and SF series, including the lengthy Book of Swords and the Dracula Chronicles. But he's still most famous for his Berserker novels, tales of ancient and mysterious killing machines whose sole purpose is to destroy all life. After a career in the US Air Force, he worked as a civilian electronics technician, and wrote and edited articles on science and technology for the Encyclopedia Britannica.


Robert J. Sawyer Robert J. Sawyer
The winner of the Nebula Award in 1995 for The Terminal Experiment, Robert J. Sawyer has also won three Aurora Awards, Canada's award for excellence in science fiction. His novel Starplex was a finalist for both Hugo and Nebula Awards. In addition, he earned the Arthur Ellis Award from the Crime Writers of Canada. His other books include Frameshift, End of an Era, Golden Fleece, and the Quintaglio Ascension trilogy (Far-Seer, Fossil Hunter, and Foreigner). Mr. Sawyer resides in Thornhill, Ontario -- just north of Toronto, Canada.

Melissa Scott
Melissa Scott
Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Melissa Scott studied history at Harvard College and Brandeis University, where she earned her Ph.D. in the comparative history program. In 1986, she won the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, the 1996 Lambda Literary Award for Gay/Lesbian Science Fiction for Shadow Man and the same award in 1995 for Trouble And Her Friends. She is one of the founders of WaveLengths, a review journal of gay/lesbian/bisexual/of interest science fiction and fantasy. Scott is the author of Mighty Good Road, Dreamships, Burning Bright, Trouble and Her Friends and Night Sky Mine, among others.


Charles Sheffield
Charles Sheffield has written a vast quantity of terrific SF. It includes Sight of Proteus (1978), Between the Strokes of Night (1985), The Ganymede Club (1995), The Mind Pool (1993) (aka The Nimrod Hunt), Trader's World (1988) and with David Bischoff, The Selkie (1982). He is the winner of Hugo and Nebula Awards (for the novelette Georgia on my Mind) and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award (for the novel Brother to Dragons). He writes science articles and books, as well as novels in the horror and thriller genres. Aftermath, his next novel, is expected in the summer. By training, he is a mathematician and a novelist.


Josepha Sherman
Josepha Sherman is a fantasy and Star Trek novelist, as well as a folklorist and storyteller. Write about what you know? Her latest novel, SON OF DARKNESS, is a dark urban tale set in New York City, her hometown. And yes, the bit about The Tunnel is quite true!


Susan Shwartz
Susan Shwartz is a financial writer/editor and an assistant vice president for a Wall Street investment firm. In her spare time, she writes, edits, and reviews fantasy and science fiction. Having published more than 60 short stories, written several of novels, and edited a number of anthologies, she has also written non-fiction for Vogue, The New York Times and various other national periodicals.


Dan Simmons Dan Simmons
Dan Simmons has won the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, the World Fantasy Award and a number of others. He is the author of Song of Kali, the Hyperion books, Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion, the Endymion books, Endymion and The Fall of Endymion, and a number of other terrific novels.


S. P. Somtow S. P. Somtow
The author of Vampire Junction, Valentine, The Riverrun Trilogy (White Wolf, 1996), Moon Dance, and many others, Somtow is also a composer and film maker. His site includes images from his controversial THE OTHER CITY OF ANGELS photo exhibit, news on forthcoming books, and a picture gallery of notables in the science fiction, horror, fantasy and entertainment worlds.


Steven Spruill
Steven Spruill was born in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1946. He has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Catholic University of America. Spruill has had ten novels and five or six short stories published, He's married with no kids but they do have two tortoise-shell cats.


Neal Stephenson Neal Stephenson
Neal Stephenson is the hottest authors around after two terrific novels, Snow Crash and the Hugo Award-winning The Diamond Age. Also, there are Interface and The Cobweb written as Stephen Bury (along with his uncle). This site is the Sci-Fi Channel's featured author page with links to interviews, reviews, and other stuff including the text of the short story that appeared in Time.


Bruce Sterling Bruce Sterling
Bruce Sterling can be called an author, a journalist, an editor, a critic or many other things. He is adept at them all. He is the author of Involution Ocean (1977), The Artificial Kid (1980), Schismatrix (1985), Islands in the Net (1988), Heavy Weather (1994), and Holy Fire (1995)


Sean Stewart
In addition to his website some of Stewart's letters and thoughts are on the net, including a thoughtful letter on gender to Maureen McHugh.


John E. Stith
His site includes a biography and a bibliography. There also are excerpts and many other items of interest from the author of Redshift Rendevous (a Nebula Award nominee), Manhattan Transfer (a Hugo Award Honorable Mention), and Reunion on Nevered.


Victoria Strauss Victoria Strauss
Born in Exeter, New Hampshire in 1955, Victoria Strauss graduated from Vassar College in 1977 with a degree in Comparative Religion. She has worked at a variety of jobs including store clerk, secretary, and house painter. Her first novel was The Lady of Rhuddesmere with two more young adult fantasies following; Worldstone and Guardian Of The Hills. Her first adult fiction, The Arm of the Stone, is from Eos. Her most recent fantasy novel, The Awakened City, is also available from HarperCollins Eos.

Mark Sumner
Mark Sumner is the author of two fantasy novels of the Wild West, Devil's Tower and Devil's Engine, both from Del Rey. He describes himself as a fanatic game player, and he continues to write regular columns for gaming magazines. He lives in the hills south of St. Louis with his wife and son.
