Book Two of The Swans' War
The second book in a fantasy series is sometimes set months or even years after the conclusion of the first; not so with The Isle of Battle. It takes up immediately at the point where The One Kingdom ended. Not a moment has lapsed. The Isle of Battle takes the reader further into the hidden lands and reveals much more of the history of Alaan/Sainth and his family. It is part of the overall design of the series that each book will take you farther back in history, and reveal more about the origins of the feuds that plague the land between the mountains. There are new characters, such as Rabal Crowheart and Orlem Slighthand, and most of the cast of The One Kingdom returns. Cynddl, the Fáel story finder continues to uncover the past as they travel, and the Knights of the Vow finally appear, but end up in a fight none could have expected. The Isle of Battle is a darker book than The One Kingdom, as befits a world on the brink of war.
