at the Raw Sugar Café in Ottawa.

Ottawa writer Charles de Lint is the best-selling and much-beloved author of over more than 70 adult, young adult and children's books. He is the recipient of the World Fantasy, White Pine, Crawford and Aurora awards. De Lint is a poet, songwriter, performer and folklorist, and he writes a monthly book review column for The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction.

For the first time, Charles de Lint will be published by a Canadian publishing house. Acquired by Penguin Canada in a fierce bidding war, The Wildlings series promises to be his most thrilling adventure yet. Book one, UNDER MY SKIN, will be published on March 6, 2012.

About the novel:

For the past six months, something has been happening to young people in Santa Feliz. Josh Saunders has seen the news reports, but he is still unprepared when it happens to him. One minute he's arguing with his mother's boyfriend and the next, he is looming over the man, blood dripping from his claws—he has transformed into a mountain lion. When Josh switches back to his human body, he knows his life has changed forever. He has become a Wildling.

Pursued by both government authorities and criminal factions, Wildlings must hide their newfound abilities to avoid being locked up for study and experimentation. When an accidental betrayal reveals Josh's secret, his carefully constructed cover is ripped apart, forcing his friends to come to his rescue. They must grudgingly put their trust in other Wildlings—and, most challenging, each other—if they ever hope to save him.

In addition to reading from and signing his new book at the launch, de Lint will perform a short set of songs from his recently released album, Old Blue Truck. Music will also be provided by Joel Hayward and Kyla Dowden.
