Ratings are based on a four star system.
One star means that the commercials are more entertaining than the program.
Two stars watch if you have nothing better to do.
Three stars is good solid entertainment.
Four stars means you never dreamed television could be this good.

Doctor Who The current season of Doctor Who came to a satisfactorily mind-blowing end, with the threat that the universe would be, not just destroyed, but caused never to have existed at all. The Doctor faces down all (yes, all!) of the villains he has ever encountered armed, as usual, with nothing more than his wits.

I'm not going to bother reviewing The Sorcerer's Apprentice (**), a very mildly amusing by-the-numbers fantasy with some good actors hitting their marks and remembering their lines. But I did want to note that, given that the characters in the film notice it when a line of dialogue is borrowed from Star Wars, they should logically notice it when an entire scene is borrowed from The Sorcerer's Apprentice segment of Fantasia.

The best film of the year so far is Toy Story 3.

Not much on tv in August. Go to the beach. Watch out for oil.
