Two stars watch if you have nothing better to do.
Three stars is good solid entertainment.

Terra Nova, "Genesis" (***), by Craig Silverstein & Kelly Marcel and Brannon Bragga & David Fury

Terra Nova I enjoyed the first fifteen minutes. The rest not so much. I was bored by the rebellious teen. The pretty girl who knows science and the adorable pre-teen were OK. None of the dialogue sounds like anything a human being might say in similar circumstances. But characterization is not what people tuned in to Terra Nova to see. They tuned in to see dinosaurs, and the special effects are very good.

After a gripping opening where a father fights to save his family, the program doesn't really seem to be doing anything except setting up conflicts for the rest of the season. I've heard the series opener compared to Lost, but I don't think that's where they are going with this. I foresee standard action adventure with dinosaurs.

And I wonder about the supposedly loving wife who doesn't know that there is only one way to welcome home a husband who has been in prison for two years.
