Ratings are based on a four star system.
One star means that the commercials are more entertaining than the program.
Two stars watch if you have nothing better to do.
Three stars is good solid entertainment.
Four stars means you never dreamed television could be this good.

Arrow When a new genre television series comes along, I usually watch a few episodes, though in some cases, Arrow for example, a few minutes is enough. Then I either sign on or sign off. Sometimes I make a mistake. I gave up too soon on Lost and Heroes, and went back to them on Blu-ray. Sometimes the shows I like are not to everyone's taste. I wish Firefly and Defying Gravity had lasted more than half a season.

This Fall, I stuck with Last Resort, because the idea of the hero firing a nuclear missile at Washington, DC appealed to me. I'm not at all sure I made the right choice. The acting is good, the story totally over the top, but I suspect that Last Resort will vanish after one season, with no ending, just like too many other continued stories before it. Maybe I should be watching Revolution instead.

What I am enjoying most on tv these days is Babylon 5, the series I named this column after. I'm watching one episode a night from the beginning to the end.
