  1. I really miss Gahan Wilson's twisted illos for F&SF. According to the article linked below, he began working for F&SF in 1964, drew 250 interior illos and 4 covers during his time at F&SF. A major loss and too bad for all those who loved his stuff. At last count he was alive and kicking at 87, being born in 1930. Anyone know how he's doing, health-wise?

Somehow, he made almost every day seem like Halloween.

Not an answer to your question, but for your amusement, here's a photo of Ed Ferman and Gahan Wilson at Noreascon in 1971:

I miss his work, too, Dave. It was amusing, surprising and really creative. And thanks for the photo, Gordon. He doesn't look nearly as weird as I thought he might!

  4. Gordon, wasn't Gahan at the 1998 WFA convention in Monterey? Could have sworn I saw him there, but could easily be misremembering. My memory wants to tell me I saw him sitting at one of the banquet tables during the awards.

Gahan Wilson's official Facebook page occasionally posts new and rare work by this master of the macabre:

And for a few bucks, you can sign up for the trove:

Whoever runs Gahan Wilson's Facebook page recently wrote this in a comment: "...we are trying to get people to join Gahan's site. To support him. As you know, PLAYBOY stopped buying cartoons and many of the magazine markets have dried up. It's a funny time to be a cartoonist. So, staying with the times, Gahan's new work is on his website."

Sounds like he might be amenable to a monthly gig ... eh, Gordo? Charlie? Worth a try, anyway...
