This is the thread for discussion of the movie and book A Wrinkle in Time.

Ron, nearly every review of a SF movie you have linked to from Chicago Reader sounds the same - totally negative. There is absolutely nothing in these reviews to start a discussion of the movie since it essentially tells us not to see the movie. When I've seen the movie, if I didn't like it, it was for reasons different from the one the reviewer gives and if I liked it, it just shows me the reviewer doesn't understand SF. There are other reviewers out there who are much more into the genre.
What I'd really like is for you to wait until you've seen the movie and then post your own personal opinion. Your opinion will be much more interesting than the reviewer's.
I haven't seen this movie but will soon.

I agree with Marian. Although I've often found it possible to calibrate reviewers (e.g., if A likes it, I'll hate it; if B likes it, I'll like it too), I'm more interested in seeing a range of informed fannish opinions.

(fwiw, I tend to dislike YA stories and films with YA protagonists, so I probably won't see this one. But my wife is very enthusiastic, and I'd like to pass along opinions from people who loved the book and have seen the movie.)

Screw you Marian, you are not going to tell me what I should or should not post here.

And the negative reviews seem reasonable to me. I didn't like the movie High-Rise, though I'm a big Ballard fan. Did you like the movie Prometheus? Batman vs. Superman?

The Chicago Reader gave high praise to Gravity. A very positive review of Logan. A high positive--and insightful--review of the scifi-comedyThe World's End.
