It's time to launch our fifth (I think) thread in celebration of F&SF stories that have won acclaim elsewhere.

First up is the newly announced TOC for Jonathan Strahan's THE BEST SCIENCE FICTION & FANTASY OF THE YEAR, VOLUME THIRTEEN, which includes the following story from F&SF:

    "Widdam" by Vandana Singh (F&SF, Jan/Feb 2018)

Congratulations to the author, as well as to Charlie and Gordon!

It is worth noting that "The Barrens" by Stephanie Feldman (the cover story from the May/June issue) made the preliminary ballot for the Bram Stoker Award.

Glad to see that "The Barrens" is on the preliminary Stoker Award ballot. Of all the stories I've read in the past year or so, in F&SF and in Ellery Queen, I clearly remember five or six. "The Barrens" is always the one I most frequently recall. There was something so utterly convincing about that place...

Thanks for saying something, at78rpm. We love to hear when one of our stories really connects with or makes an impression on someone. We know that it's going to be different stories that affect different readers that way, but we're always on the lookout for fiction that we think will have that effect (usually because it did the same thing to us).
