I liked the trailer, a lot actually, except, frankly, for the use of "Dark Side of the Moon." I similarly disliked the Toto soundtrack for the David Lynch version.

The reason is simple: the story is set in the year 10,000, and to have a identifiable vintage or current popular song, jars me out of that suspension of disbelief. I hope the Pink Floyd song (which I like on its own) is just a placeholder.

I liked that Paul is actually a boy on the cusp of manhood, unlike Kyle Mach-whatever. (although the tv miniseries verisions were much worse, real abominations.). I liked a lot of the rest of the casting.

    Looking forward to it.

That's a good point about how the song resonates -- and the way they "trailerized" it makes it sound kind of hokey (there has to be a particular formula that studios use for re-recording known songs and amping up the bombast for movie trailers, because they all sound the same). However i wonder if the use of a Floyd track might be a shout-out to the Jodorowsky version of Dune that never ended up getting filmed. I believe Pink Floyd was supposed to do the whole original soundtrack for it (and there were also like 10 other crazy high-concept things going on in that flick during the planning stages that are escaping me right now).
