Chi-Fi, a Chicago science fiction convention that had scheduled its first occurrence for March 2014, announced that the event would be cancelled. Chi-Fi blamed the cancellation on the hotel, claiming the hotel demonstrated disrespect for the convention and its participants and “disapproval of [their] anti-harassment policy.” The hotel has responded claiming that Chi-Fi was making “false claims” and was let out of their contract “when it became clear that mutual needs could not be met.”
