Sapienza Named Solstice Recipient

SFWA has announced that Peggy Rae Sapienza will be one of the recipients of the Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award at this year’s SFWA Nebula Conference in Pittsburgh. Sapienza has a long history of supporting science fiction, having chaired a Worldcon, co-chaired a World Fantasy Con, and chaired three Nebula Weekends. She was a strong supporter of the Nippon 2007 Worldcon. In addition, Sapienza helped create the modern Worldcon concourse and was active in fanzine fandom. She helped run SFWA events, such as the New York Reception and also copy-edited the SFWA Bulletin. In 2012, she was a Guest of Honor at Chicon 7, the Worldcon. The Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award is presented to someone who has made a sizeable and positive difference in the science fiction community.
