Back to the Future Two Steps Closer

With the Cubs defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates in a one-game play-off and getting closer to the World Series and Pepsi announcing a limited edition of Pepsi Perfect in a futuristic bottle, it appears the world is moving a little closer to the October 21 predicted in Back to the Future II. Pepsi Perfect will be available at New York Comic Con and then released on-line on October 21. The 16.9 ounce bottle will retail at $20 and only 6,500 will be produced. Nike is also trying to release self-tightening sneakers before the end of the year.

Direwolves Defeat Lanniser

The Staten Island Direwolves defeated House Lannister 10-1 in front of a crowd of 7,529 at Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Staten Island. The Direwolves, normally the Staten Island Yankees, changed their name when they approached George R. R. Martin with the request to honor his works for a night of baseball. Martin agreed, but noted that he was unable to root for a team called the Yankees, hence the name change. In addition to baseball, the evening included an appearance by a live arctic wolf, jousting competition, trial by combat against Scooter, a reenactment of the red wedding featuring mascot Red, and swearing in of honorary Night’s Watch induction.
