Kowal’s Disappearing Candidacy

In December, Mary Robinette Kowal announced her candidacy for the Presidency of SFWA, noting that she has previously served as the organization’s Secretary and Vice-President. She has now announced that she will not be running for the position in 2017, explaining that when she made her announcement, she did not think current President Cat Rambo would be running for re-election.

Rambo Announced Plunkett Scholarships

Cat Rambo has announced the establishment of Plunkett Scholarships to allow a student who otherwise would not be able to afford to take her on-line writing classes the opportunity to enroll. Rambo will hold one space for a Plunkett Scholarship recipient in each course. The scholarship is named for Edward Plunkett, who wrote as Lord Dunsany.

Fantasy Magazine Relaunch

Fantasy Magazine will relaunch in March 2011 with a new look, new approach, and John Joseph Adams replacing Sean Wallace and Cat Rambo as editor. Wallace will remain the magazine’s publisher and Adams intends to bring the magazine in line with Lightspeed, also published by Prime. Fiction selections made by Wallace and Rambo will run through the February 2011 issue.
