Dozois, Williams Receive Solstice Award

The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) has announced that Gardner Dozois and Sheila Williams will receive the Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award to honor their editing careers in support of science fiction and fantasy. The award will be presented at the 53rd Annual Nebula Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, May 17th-20th, 2018.

Galactic Philadelphia Debuts

A new reading series, Galactic Philadelphia, will debut on October 24 at 7:30 at the Irish Pub at 2007 Walnut Street. The kick off readers will be Gardner Dozois and Lara Elena Donnelly. The event asks for a $5 donation which will help fund SFWA projects.

Skylark Award

At Boskone 53, the weekend of February 19-21, this year’s recipient of the Skylark award was announced. The Skylark Award is presented for significant contributions through work in the field of science fiction and by exemplifying the personal qualities which made the late “Doc” Smith well-loved by those who knew him. This year’s award was won by Gardner Dozois.

Dozois Joins Clarkesworld

Neil Clarke has announced that Gardner Dozois has joined Clarkesworld magazine as reprint editor. Dozois, who edited Asimov’s Science Fiction for twenty years and a best of year anthology for nearly thirty, will select two reprint stories from the last forty years to appear in each issue of Clarkesworld, beginning with the April issue.

2011 Science Fiction Hall of Fame Class

Four new members will be inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame, housed at the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle, Washington. The induction ceremony will take place as part of the Science Fiction Awards Weekend, to be held June 24-26, 2011.
