Sallis Resigns from Phoenix

James Sallis, who wrote the novel Drive has resigned his position as adjunct professor at Phoenix College after he refused to sign a loyalty oath required by state law. In preparation for an accreditation review the college determined that several of adjunct professors had never signed the oath. Sallis refused to sign the oath, instead choosing to end his fourteen year affiliation with the college.

Autistica Auction

Peter F. Hamilton, David Mitchell and 15 other authors are auctioning off tuckerizations while James Sallis and four other authors are auctioning off a writing feedback session as a fundraiser for Autistica, the charity that funds research into early diagnosis, more effective treatments and the causes of autism – a condition which affects one in a hundred children. The auctions run on E-bay through November 21.
