National Film Registry Additions

The Library of Congress has announced twenty-five films it has added to the National Film Registry. The Registry was established by the National Film Preservation Act and seeks to identify films that are culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant, to be preserved for all time. The genre films added to the list this year include the following films.

  • 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1916)
  • The Birds
  • The Lion King
  • Lost Horizon
  • The Princess Bride
  • Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Liu Speaks in Washington

Ken Liu will speak at the Library of Congress Pickford Theatre on April 8 from Noon to 1:00 on “Chinese Science Fiction: Conformance, Estrangement, and Translation.” Liu has won the Hugo and Nebula Awards and was also the translator for the Hugo Award-winning novel The Three-Body Problem, by Cixin Liu.
