Resnick Wins Galaxy

Mike Resnick has been announced as the recipient of the Galaxy Award for Most Popular Foreign Author. The Galaxy, or Yinhe, is given out in China and is considered to be the Chinese equivalent to the Hugo Award, voted on by popular vote of fans. The award was founded in 1986 and the Most Popular Foreign Author category was added in 2004.

Resnick Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Mike Resnick received the L. Ron Hubbard Lifetime Achievement Award on March 30. The honor recognized Resnick’s prolific output of novels, short stories, and works as an editor and noted that he has received more short fiction awards than any other author in the field.

Resnick Gets Golden Lion

Mike Resnick received the Golden Lion Award from the Burroughs Bibliophiles at their annual Dum Dum held just outside Chicago the weekend of August 5-7. The Golden Lion is given to someone for their lifelong devotion and achievement regarding the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Resnick’s first published story was a Burroughs pastiche.

Galaxy’s Edge Announced

Arc Manor has announced the launch of on-line magazine Galaxy’s Edge, scheduled for March 1, 2013. The magazine, which is edited by Mike Resnick, will include a mix of new and reprint stories, as well as serials. It will be available for free on-line, with paper copies available through Amazon and B&N and downloadable versions for a low price. The magazine will be published every other month and include columns from Barry Malzberg, Paul Cook, and Horace Cocroft.

Phoenix Pick Project

Phoenix Pick, an imprint of Arc Manor, is planning on producing a series of six books which pair an established science fiction/fantasy writer with a new writer. Each book will consist of two stories which may be set in the same universe or complement the other in some other manner. The project is being edited by Mike Resnick. Kevin J. Anderson and Mercedes Lackey have both signed on to participate.
