Star Wars at the Louvre

The Louvre Museum in Paris is hosting an exhibit on Star Wars memorabilia through March 17. The exhibit spotlights the collection of Arnaud Grunberg, a toy collector who has loaned 450 items, ranging from action figures to light sabres. The exhibit also includes scenes recreated from the movies using action figures. Grunberg began his collection after he saw Star Wars in 1977, when he was 11.

Tarzan in Paris

The Musee du Quai Branly in Paris, France is running an exhibit devoted to exploring the cultural impact of Edgar Rice Burroughs’s Tarzan. According to the museum’s head, Tarzan is important because it molded and reinforced American and European images of Africa throughout the twentieth century. Tarzan was introduced to readers by Burroughs in 1912 in Tarzan of the Apes. Burroughs went on to write two dozen novels about Tarzan. The first film was made as early as 1918.
