SF author and SFWA Grandmaster Samuel R. Delany will be presenting two lectures at the University of Chicago, the first will be a reading of his recent fiction on Friday, January 17 at 4:30 PM at Harper Hall 140. Two weeks later on January 31, he’ll return at the same time and room for a talk on “The Mirror and the Maze: Reflections on the Complexity of Writing.”
SFWA has announced that Samuel R. Delany will be named the Damon Knight Grandmaster, with his induction occurring at the Nebula Award Weekend in San Jose, California the weekend of May 15-18, 2014. Delany is the author of Dhalgren, Babel-17, The Einstein Intersection, Nova, and numerous other novels and short stories.
Samuel R. Delany and Harlan Ellison have been announced as recipients of the Eaton Award for Lifetime Achievement by the University of California-Riverside. Delany is the 2010 honoree and Ellison is the honoree for 2011. The next Eaton Conference will take place in February 2011 with the theme Global Science Fiction. Conference speakers will include China Miéville, Nalo Hopkinson, and Karen Tei Yamashita.
