WSFS Site Selection Set

There were no surprises in the Site Selection filings. The only bid to file to host the 2020 Worldcon was New Zealand and the only bid to file to host the 2019 NASFiC was Utah. Details of site selection voting are being worked out and the ballot will be released once that has been done. Site selection will take place at Worldcon 76 in San Jose.

Worldcon for 2018 Selected

San Jose, CA has won the right to host the 2018 Worldcon, beating a bid for New Orleans, LA by 675-594 with 24 write-ins. The convention, which will be known as Worldcon 76, will take place the weekend of August 16-20. The guests of honor are Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Pierre & Sany Pettinger, and Spider Robinson. In addition, Rob Wilkins and Edgar Pangborn will be Ghosts of Honor.

Worldcon and NASFIC Site Selection

MidAmeriCon II has announced that site selection is now open for the 2018 Worldcon and the 2017 NASFIC. Site selection is conducted by mail or in person with no electronic voting options available. Any member of MidAmeriCon II may vote in site selection if they pay the site selection fee, which will convert to a supporting membership for the winning bid. The fee is $40 for the 2018 Worldcon site selection and $25 for the 2017 NASFIC site selection.

Worldcon Race 2016

Two bids have filed the necessary paperwork to appear on the ballot for the 2016 Worldcon, which will be selected at Loncon 3. Beijing and Kansas City are bidding for the right to host the annual World Science Fiction Convention. 2016 will be the 40th anniversary of the only prior Kansas City Worldcon, MidAmericon. Beijing is bidding for China’s first Worldcon. Any Attending or Supporting member of Loncon may vote in site selection.

2013 Site Selection Ballot

Renovation has announced the availability of the Site Selection Ballot for the 2013 Worldcon. The only bid to file paperwork for 2013 is the Texas in 2013, which plans to host a Worldcon from August 29 to September 2, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. All Adult and Young Adult Attending and Supporting members of Renovation are eligible to take part in the site selection process. Mailed ballots must arrive by July 31. Hand-delivered ballots, or votes at Renovation, must be received by 6 pm on August 19. All ballots must include a $60 voting fee which will convert to a Supporting Membership for the Texas Worldcon

Worldcon Site Selection Ballot Released

Aussiecon 4 has released this year’s site selection ballot. Chicago in 2012 is running unopposed and is the only bid that appears on the ballot. Aussiecon members who vote will receive a supporting membership in the winning worldcon. This year’s voting fee is US$50/AU$55. The deadline for receipt of mail-in ballots is July 31, 2010
