17 minutes of additional footage from the Stanley Kubrick film 2001: a space odyssey have turned up in a vault in Kansas. The footage was cut from the film following its New York debut and Kubrick indicated that he preferred the film without the scenes. Warner Brothers has issued a statement concerning the found footage.

Hobbits in Kiwiland

Following a demonstration and negotiations, Warner Brothers has announced that it plans to keep production of The Hobbit in New Zealand, where Peter Jackson previously filmed the three Lord of the Rings films. The New Zealand government offered to change some local labor laws and offered increased financial incentives. Filming on the two films is expected to begin in February.
