Wizard World Shuffles Schedule

Wizard World has announced that five of their cons scheduled for Fall 2017, in Biloxi MS), Peoria (IL), Springfield (MO), Montgomery (AL), and Winston-Salem (NC), have been postponed until 2018, although specific dates have not been announced. They’ve also added a show in Boise (ID) for 2018. Wizard World will now be holding seventeen shows in 2018.

Macaluso Resigns

John Macaluso has announced his decision to resign as CEO, President and as a member of the Board of Wizard World. Macaluso has held the position since 2012. Wizard World lost over $4 million in 2015, and sold most of their ConTV venture to Cinedigm at a loss of over a million and has begun to cancel some of their underperforming events.

Battle of the Toronto Cons

Hobby Star is suing Wizard World over the use of the name Toronto Comicon. Hobby Star has run the Toronto Comicon for several years and claims that the newer Wizard World Toronto Comic Con is infringing on its name and misrepresenting itself as being related. Hobby Star is also claiming Wizard World is defaming Hobby Star by claiming that company is threatening reprisals against vendors who exhibit at both events.
